I am going to sound like I work for NCL, but I have nothing but praise for the ship and my family's trip to Alaska.
Pre-cruise we flew in two days early and stayed at the Hyatt Place near the Space Needle. Everything is a close walk from there, and the hotel has a free shuttle that will take you a mile radius. Lots of variety of restaurants. We walked to the Space Needle and toured the beautiful glass museum. The park is leftover from the 1962 Worlds Fair. We walked one day to Top Pot doughnuts and to the Pikes Place Market. We also did the Seattle Wheel. Great weather and easy walks.
The hotel shuttle took us to the pier on embarkation day, and the suite got us priority sign-in, and a lounge with food and drinks to wait it. We got escorted on the ship and had lunch in Cagneys. I thought the ship was in great shape. Being this was our twentieth wedding anniversary, we splurged and got a Penthouse Suite on Deck 11 so our boys (16 and 11) could have their own bedroom, my wife and I had ours, we had a huge bathroom and they had a separate one, and we all shared the great living area and balcony. A balcony is a must for Alaska - not just for Glacier Bay, but just for watching the mountains and lush green of Southern Alaska go by. We also spotted many orca whales following the ship.
Wonderful mid ship cabin. Love the Lavazza coffee. Just nice to have room to move about, the huge bathroom with tub and separate shower, the windows looking out over the world, the balcony. Comfortable bed and second bedroom isolates kids from parents.
Nice shopping. Creek Street is nice but I wish we could have seen salmon = just too early in the year
Very nice walking town. We stayed in Old Town area near Space Needle and did all the tourist stuff.
