What a disappointment.
I've heard so many good things about RCI cruises in the past. The ships, the food, the entertainment...all of it had been described to me with glowing terms. This cruise really let me down.
I'll start with the positives.
This is mostly an excellent cabin. Pretty standard interior, fine space. I won't go into those details, as I'm sure they are pretty similar to other rooms in that class.
The two unique characteristics about this room are as follows:
1. Proximity to the Atrium. This room is the first room forward of the Atrium on the Port side of Deck 9. It is adjacent to the Atrium and elevator space. Inexplicably, RCI insists on putting on very loud music acts until midnight or later. Because of this, the fire door (right outside the room) stays shut from about 9:00pm-midnight or 1:00am. It is very awkward and difficult to get into your room--you have to go through the very heavy fire door, then close it, hope no one else tries to come through, and enter your room. Outside of this very odd time period, the proximity is nice because so much happening on this ship seems to center around the atrium.
2. The balcony. Chances are, if you've selected this room on purpose, it's because you saw on the deck plan how large the balcony appears. You are absolutely right about that, it is HUGE. It was by far the largest balcony we've ever had--probably about 1/2-2/3 the size of the indoor living area of our room. It was very private, not loud, and had tons of space. There were two regular chairs, a table, and two lounger deck chairs out there. There was probably room for our bed out there in addition (not an exaggeration). The only minor drawback was that it was hard to see the tops of the fjords when we got close, due to the equally-huge balcony above us. All in all, though, it was an excellent feature of our room.
We like Copenhagen, having visited there before. It is a very beautiful city with good food, shopping, and sights to see. Lots of museums, castles, and churches right in the town, and good access to out-of-town attractions as well.
The only downsides about it are the cost (it's a very expensive place to visit) and the incredible amount of construction happening there.
