Sail Date: Jun 2015

The Adonia is a very tired ship, with lots of rust, old fashioned carpets, some poor entertainment, and silly rules! We sailed to St Mary's in the Isles if Scilly, which is not very far so we spent the whole of the first day within sight of our first destination, but didn't dock until the next morning! The next day we went to Cobh near Cork which was fantastic, couldn't get into Guernsey because of the wind, Captain tried Cherbourg but pilots ruled that out as well so we spent 2 days instead of 1 just cruising the channel on the journey to nowhere, albeit in good weather! We made Honfleur the last day so that was good!

Balcony cabin was fine, if dark, rusty balcony, but everything worked, and steward was excellent, TV not very comprehensive. Food excellent in Pacific restaurant and waiters/wine waiters/bar staff extremely good and friendly, also good in the Conservatory, but too many passengers using it as a lounge and not moving on after eating, so several times could not get a table and gave up!! Entertainment in the Curzon lounge generally very good, especially the comedian, but Sail-a-ways very poor, just 2 people jigging away to a CD is not good enough when you've been used to cruise lines with live music and a good enthusiastic entertainments team getting everybody up dancing!!

The layout of the ship is poor, you need to be able to walk around the deck halfway up where it's sheltered not up on the top deck!! Too many sun loungers and not enough tables and chairs in our opinion!! Disembarkation day breakfast a shambles with 15 mins only to reach the Pacific restaurant for breakfast, all of us, and therefore too many trying to eat in the Conservatory!! Apart from that disembarkation very efficient. Finally not many signs of prevention of Norovirus, few hand sanitisers and nobody wiping banisters down - I did go down with a 24 hour sickness bug 2 days after leaving the ship - co-incidence or what!!
