Just returned from a 7 day cruise leaving Barcelona on the Allure. We have been on several RCCL cruises and the first on this ship class. We had a group of 6, ranging from ages 15 to 81 years old. I will attempt to avoid others' comments and focus on what we did right and perhaps what we will do next time: 1. We chose a family suite to put all 6 of us in. This worked better than 3 separate rooms for the sole reason of the suite-level services we got. While this may not be possible for all, with a larger group it worked and RCCL clearly distinguishes access, concierge services, private lounges, etc. for suite guests; 2. Be sure to speak with Guest Services on board. We booked several shows and dining prior to departure and there is clearly a communication issue between the ship and phone reps. Show times changed and stopped and what we asked for on dining did not happen on board, despite the confirmation; 3. The ship is impeccable and was NOT too big. We feared it would be but it's not. Central Park is the best with the Cafe Promenade. You can skip Windjammer. The hot dog stand is great! 4. Take part in activities out of your comfort zone. We did skating (terribly) and played some trivia in the Schooner Bar. 5. This trip allows you to be part of a more diverse group of passengers: lots of Americans, Spanish, British and Germans; 6. The ports are THE key and please consider using a tour guide not part of the ship. The large tour buses cannot get down certain streets in Florence or the Amalfi Coast. Consider a smaller van with a local guide. We used Rudy's Touring Service and he provided impeccable services in Florence, Rome and Naples. These tours were the highlight of our trip and provided the best genuine experiences. 7. Finally, could RCCL please consider changing its port in Florence back to Livorno? Le Spezia is too far from Pisa and Florence and most customers are not aware of the 2 hour drive back and forth.

Outstanding Ship with key actions to pre-plan for full experience!

Cabin Review

Cabin 9664
Outstanding suite that well exceeded our expectations. We decided to get a suite rather than get 3 separate rooms. This worked perfectly. The living room was larger than expected and we used the balcony all of the time with a full table and chairs and two lounge chairs. There were 2 nicely-appointed bathrooms and the master bathroom was larger than my city apartment!
