We booked the Celebrity Silhouette, 12 day British Isles cruise, with hopes of having a nice relaxing vacation. The cruise was only our second cruise ever taken, the first being with Carnival several years ago. The cruise had an itinerary, that seemed exciting, and interesting. We did some research, prior to leaving, booked some shore excursions with Celebrity before leaving. With all that it was still a lot of planning once onboard, trying to figure out the ports and how to manage our time. We usually plan and execute all our own vacations, and we might as well of done this on our own. The plan was that it would be less stressful taking the cruise. No flight, hotel, restaurant, etc, planning because it's all done for you.. We have learned a very expensive mistake, that won't be repeated.

Let's start with the arrival in Amsterdam, a city we have been to, so no problem there. The wait with Celebrity at the airport to get everyone checked in and boarded on buses.. Ha, that was a mess.. Once arriving at the ship, and standing in line forever, also a mess. The only bright side, was finally getting to our veranda stateroom.. The stateroom (8345) was very nice, and we were pleased with it.

Okay now we have the food.. We opted for the buffet the first night, and we thought it was okay. Breakfast the next morning looked and tasted fine, until I get to my last drink of juice. The bottom of the blue plastic cup was a layer of something looking like sand. I was not happy, and needless to say sick to my stomach. The very same moment two different people at two different tables find hair in their food. Good morning first day on Celebrity Silhouette.. The food only got worse, the main dining room served food that most would not eat, with way to many ingredients. The buffet was the same stuff every night, with one or two changes.. Pasta, Pizza, salad, sushi, chicken, Mexican, fruit.. We paid the cover charge and went to the Tuscan restaurant one night, for steak. We ordered the ribeye, and it looked and tasted like cheap freezer skillet meat.. The only good part of the dinner was the Onion/Leek soup and dessert. So 12 days of cruise food, and we couldn't wait to get off that ship..

Cabin 1A

The Cabin was really the only good thing on this cruise.

Port Reviews

St. Peter Port (Guernsey)

Looked this port, real easy to walk around and see.. We were told, but didn't take bus #92 around the Island.. Great view from Castle..

Dublin

We took the cruise ship Dublin On Own bus, but some people took the train. Dublin was okay..

Liverpool

Walked around their new port area.. and then took a bus tour from tourist office..
