We are a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 late teen boys. We wanted to take them to Europe over a 3 week time and not use up all of our savings. We booked NCL Spirit. We had 2 cabins ( a balcony which slept 2 (room 9662) and a large ocean view window which slept 3 (room6586). We had the upgraded dining, unlimited beverage package, and prepaid gratuities PLUS NCL gave us $500 spending money while on board. Our cruise was WONDERFUL. We have cruised in the Caribbean many times as we live in Florida and frankly we never really enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of the type of cruisers in this area (typically loud obnoxious partying Americans) So it was hard to commit to the Med. but I figured the crowd would be older and not so obnoxious. I was RIGHT. The clientele of people on board the ship were fun, culturally diverse and there were plenty of people that my teen boys met along the journey. Mainly people celebrating 21st birthdays and or graduation from high school or college. This made for a great cruise!!

Yes, the ship is older and maybe not as large as other ships. HOWEVER, after going to all the ports I DON'T want to be in port with an extra 2500 people on the ship. The ports are smaller and this only makes it harder to enjoy the area when you are waiting in lines and traffic. I did not book any of our shore excursions thru NCL. All were private tours that I used Trip Advisor for. (Much Cheaper and personalized) We did participate in the events on the ship..name that tune ( A+), night time entertainment (which we gave a B rating) the casino (C) and pool deck games and activities (B). The upgraded Dining was AMAZING, and having the unlimited beverage package is a MUST as well as the prepaid gratuities. The staff on board was attentive, fun and engaging. Everyone was polite and I felt like NCL went out of their way to please their customers. The ship was older but it was CLEAN!! We had the time of our lives and didn't break the bank. Following the cruise we stayed in Barcelona a few nights then took the train to Paris for another 5 nights. Our European adventure is over but memories of a lifetime.
