Sail Date: May 2015

I am a pretty avid cruiser, at least I think so. We cruise several times a year on Princess, Disney, and Royal. I love cruising… we sailed with NCL years and years ago, and I was quite anxious to try their new, big ship. However, after reading the reviews, I was so afraid to step foot on the Getaway. My husband and I went back & forth, and if we had purchased insurance, we would have backed out. Now, a week after our cruise, I’m super happy we went, and I would sail again on NCL in a heartbeat.

I don’t quite understand all of the negative reviews. I am very picky, and yet, I just did not see or experience the ship in the same eyes as they did. My husband and I have left with wonderful memories of one of the best cruises ever (although it’s hard to compete with the Allure or Disney). With this said, here are my thoughts…

Arriving and disembarking were a piece of cake… easy as pie. When we arrived on the ship, we went directly to the Box Office (it’s to the left of where we entered the ship). We were prepared, and although we had booked quite a few shows from home, we basically planned our entire cruise at that point. There was not a challenge with times, probably because we were so flexible.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

Took a cab to Megan's Beach... a zillion cabs waiting. Beach was fine, but not as beautiful as we anticipated. I thought the beach was a bit dirty and very crowded.

Nassau

Walked to the beach... but because of the rain, it was dirty... really dirty. We did not go into the Straw Market, as we've been there, done that. We were sorry that we did not try the ferry to another beach.
