Cabin: Balcony

I have never been a fan of Carnival but booked this cruise because I needed to use this year's Marriott Vacation Club points and San Juan and NYC are two of my favorite ports. So I booked two balcony staterooms (one for my bro/sis-in-law). The population on this cruise was one of the most diverse I have ever seen. I like that. The embarkation process was smooth and hassle free. The stateroom was spacious but the balcony was a lot smaller than some of the newer ships. I was shocked at the size of the shower (tiny). I liked the fact that there was an ironing room on every deck. Very important to me since Carnival found and confiscated my travel iron. I have been on 14 cruises and this is the first time any cruise line has taken my little iron.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8F

Cabin was average size. I like the white sheets and duvet over bedspreads; Seemed cleaner. Our steward always provided plenty of fresh towels and towel animals every night. Bathroom size was a challenge but keep in mind that this is an older ship. They are using shower curtains which made me question sanitation.

Port Reviews

San Juan

I have been to San Juan 5 times. We were just there last year on the Celebrity Refkection. This port appeals to me because of the great shopping, restaurants and night life.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

The little shopping area at the port was nice. I didn't like the way we were followed and hassled by cab drivers selling tours. Since we are seniors and not interested in scuba diving or swimming, there is little to do here. We back to ship early.

Antigua

The people here are colorful. There were people in costumes to take pictures. The shopping area was spacious and clean with a variety of merchandise. We walked through the mall area to the other side. Nothing to see; just flat office buildings.

St. Thomas

Been to St Thomas too many times. Skipped the expensive jewelry stores and headed to the University of the Virgin Islands. Beautiful university sitting up in the hills. My cousin is the President of the university and we had lunch in his private dining room.
