Sail Date: May 2015
Cabin: Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window

We completed a 7 day Alaskan cruise on the Pearl. It was an almost perfect cruise. This was our second NCL cruise and first cruise to Alaska.

Embarkation: We found the system for dropping off luggage poorly organized. We waited in a long line to drop off the luggage and then went to the long registration line to wait again. My wife was part of a group cruise so we were able to go to the latitudes lineup, which we did not initially know exist. We were made VIP, so once we did get to the check in we were quickly escorted on board and had a fabulous lunch in the Cagney's restaurant. Our room was ready early, but our luggage took a bit longer.

Cabin: We had a porthole ocean view and it was a tight squeeze to get around one side of the bed due to the table. It was nice to have the window as we spent a fair amount of time in our room. The cabin steward was OK, at first he did not seem very engaging, but this improved as time went on.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window

Cabin OF

The porthole window was good as it let in some light. It was a tight squeeze to get around the bed as there was not much room by the table. We had to close the porthole at night as sunrise was 4:13 one morning and sunset was at 10:43. Functionally the room was good. The TV was small. A channel guide or TV information channel would have been useful

Port Reviews

Juneau

We took the free shuttle from the pier and it dropped us at the base of the Tram. It was cool to see the Tram lift off and return. Bought a lot of t-shirts at the Alaska T-shirt company. This turned out to be the best value in a lol the stops. We visited some of the unique shops there were 4 ships in port do it was busy and crowded.

Skagway

Our ship was docked right next to the train stop. This was a smaller town than Juneau and there were fewer shops and people. There were more unique items available and the people were more engaging. The views of the glacier in the distance between the mountains was spectacular.

Glacier Bay

Most amazing part of the cruise. The glaciers and the mountains were breathtaking. We spent about two hours and the ship rotated three times. We could not stop taking pictures.

Ketchikan

We walked around the town and visited the shops on Creek street. It was a beautiful spot, but was busy as there were several states ships in town. Tongans trading post and the Alaskan Christmas stor were our favourites

Seattle

Was only in Seattle overnight and for a few hours post cruise. What we saw was awesome. We took the light r,ail from and to the airport and this was very convenient. Although we it a souvenir mug at the Starbucks store we did not have time to see much of the market.
