Oh my goodness. I have sailed on many Norwegian ships, but Getaway was definitely my favorite.

The night before the cruise we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott close to the Miami Airport. It was wonderful! The planes flew right over the hotel, but they changed paths at night to avoid the hotels. My younger brothers loved the pool and loved to watch the planes overhead. The hotel also had a van that was able to take people to the Cruise Port.

We decided to drive our own personal vehicle down, all the way from Nebraska. Traffic to the port was okay, there is a lot of construction on the interstates and roads in Miami.

Cabin Review

Family Inside Stateroom

Cabin I1

My sister and I shared an Inside cabin. It worked well for the two of us, but it does need a bit more storage. The shower was a lot bigger than the ones I have been in in the past. The beds were super comfy, and we often got a lot of sleep due to the darkness. Our room did have the two Pullman beds, but we didn't need them. I loved all of the lighting in there, as when the lights are turned on, it is like daylight in there. I also like NCL's new keycard light rule. What is it? Well, they have a new system that requires you to leave a keycard in the holder in order to have "power" to the room. I kid you not... you pull the keycard out and the TV is off and anything that is plugged in charging stops. I do recommend Inside cabins.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We mainly went shopping here in St. Thomas. Sam, the youngest brother, loves popcorn so we went and bought him some, as well as a case of bottled water.

Tortola

It was okay... very pretty though. We disembarked the ship and just had a driver show us around the island and take us to one of the beaches.

The town of RoadTown is definitely up and coming, there was a lot of construction as they are building a new docking area for ships.

Nassau

We ended up taking a taxi with a very funny man named Danny. He showed us all of the highlights of Nassau and made sure to answer our questions. He showed us were many celebrities stay, as well as the different classes and where a middle class family like us would be. He also asked trivia questions. It was so much fun! He took us back to the port area and we went shopping. Love Nassau!

Miami

Of course, embarking city. We didn't do much in Miami, mainly stayed at our hotel and hung out. Same when we disembarked. My favorite part of Miami was the new tunnel that goes under the water by the cruise port.
