There is so much to say! Overall we really enjoyed this trip. So much so, that we've discussed doing it again only boarding in Rome instead of Barcelona! We spent 2 days in Barcelona prior to boarding the Epic. We stayed at the Universal Barcelona just a few blocks away from La Rambla - great shopping, eating and sightseeing. And the hotel staff steered us to some wonderful restaurants that weren't geared towards tourists. We didn't leave Barcelona right away when we returned - we spent one fantastic night at the W Barcelona. If you can afford it (it was definitely a splurge) It's worth it. Right on the beach, minutes from the port and only about 30 minutes from the airport. We opted for the Hop on Hop off tour when we docked and it was great. Just remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, and bring water! It gets hot on that top deck. I will say that I prefer the personally guided tours to the automated ones. All the tours we booked through the cruiseline had wonderful guides! Now on to the cruise review!

Boarding:

Very easy. We arrived at the port around 1:00pm via taxi (many take credit cards - some do not take Amex ask before you get in. We hadn't printed off our luggage tags but that was no problem they had them at the port. We had our boarding documents and within about 30 minutes we had our key cards and were on our way. It was well organized and everything moved quickly. There are some shops at the port after check in where you can purchase some items (beverages and such) if you wish at that point and carry them onboard. I recommend getting a few bottles of water or soda if you don't have the drink package. Once we boarded we headed to the Garden Café and had a snack. We went to check out our room and the bags were waiting for us. We met Neil our room steward ( he was awesome! ) and unpacked. (full cabin review below).

Cabin BE

There is a surprising amount of storage space in the cabin. We do wish both storage cabinets had hanging space. That would have been nice but we did have plenty of hangars so we were set. We also utilized the space behind the couch and the cabinet with the safe for clothes. We had viewed a youtube video on the rooms so we weren't surprised at the frosted glass "doors" around the shower and the toilet area. Thankfully we aren't shy but if you are, there is a curtain that you can draw across the area for a little more privacy.

The Bed - I'm only 5'2. and I can say the bed was kind of short. My feet reached the edge of the bed so I can only imagine that those who are much taller will have feet hanging over the edge. I'm not sure with the sq footage of the room that there is anything that can be done about that. A longer bed would simply take away from the limited walking room between the bed and the wardrobe. I have no other complaints regarding the size of the room. It's meant to take care of the most basic of needs. Shower, sleep and restroom and changing clothes. And I love the basket under the sink for wet towels. And the balcony was nice to have. Two chairs and a small table. Perfect for coffee or juice in the morning!
