Sail Date: Apr 2015

Yes we were among the Gatwick 40 that sailed on the Msc sinfonia from the 2nd of April instead of the 31st of March first landing at Pisa instead of Genoa airport and the ship not waiting for us. We were among the group of 16 that was turned of the Msc coach. We had to sort our selves out and make arrangements to get to Gibraltar at our own expense. The only good thing about Msc was the rep, they left at Genoa with us who worked until 10 o'clock that night to get us booked on flights and hotels and if it wasn't for him we would have given up and come home. Unlike the package group we had no food or drink as we had to coach to Milan that night and did not arrive until after midnight. Next morning we took a flight from Milan to Barcelona then another onto Malaga were we met up with the other members of the Gatwick 40. We enjoyed a day at the hotel and was taken to Gibraltar next afternoon but the ship was unable to dock as somebody was in the berth, pity they could not wait an hour in Genoa but spent two hours floating about waiting to dock. There was no assistance for us and we were left waiting on the coach for 2 hours with no food or drink. There was further shambles when we had to give our names and cabin numbers as they had no paper work for us, by the time we boarded and finally got some food and drink we had to do life boat drill and missed the visit to Gibraltar.

The ship had just been stretched which we knew but the theatre was the same size so you had to book tickets for the shows, as we was late on it took us a few days to get seats, even with 2 shows they could not fit every one in. We was in the new dinning area which did not seem to have speakers so parades ect. seem to come unanounced to us. Also the dining room had a walk way through it a little strange as the dining area is usaly shut will we eat. The waiter worked hard he served 8 of us with no assistance, there was no jugs of water or after dinner coffees, but in buffet restaurants all this was available for free. It seems they had no extra staff for the larger ship. The cabin steward looked after us well and managed to keep the cabin clean and tidy. The pool deck had a nice new area for younger kids to play and splash. When it came to disembark again not enough staff with everybody crowded round one door. A family from the Gatwick 40 lost there luggage between ship and shore but pleased to say the plane landed at the right airport to bring us home. Overal we have been on six Msc cruises but will not be going again. We had £40 on board spends per adult and no more compensation for 2 days we were not onboard the ship, all 4 of us. We were told we did not have a full Msc package so get it from your travel agent. Please to say our travel agents planet cruises sent us all our out of pocket expenses but Msc kept our money for the days that we had missed onboard the ship. The worst customer relations in the cruise industry I've come across in 25 years.
