I loved my cruise on the Splendor. Part of that is the wonderful friends I made at my dining room table. There were some hiccups but they definitely didn't overshadow all of the positives on this cruise. I do not have kids so can't comment on the programs for them and I don't care for the show productions. The one I did partially seen was terrible though. None of the dancers were in sync which I thought was a basic skill for them.

Pros: loved my cabin, all of the staff was friendly, food was good, mostly always something going on (see cons), Tim Young one of our comedians was awesome.

Mexican fiesta was great, also really enjoyed the chocolate extravaganza. Plenty of food options! Also try the steakhouse, you will not regret it. Being my first carnival cruise I was pleasantly surprised that they played 2 movies almost every night for the dive in movies and they didn't repeat any.

Cabin Review

Interior Upper/Lower

Cabin 1A

Cabin was fine, it was just me so I had plenty of floor space, as well as counter and closet space. I had never been in a room on deck 1 or in the aft before. You CAN feel the thrusters vibration every morning going into port, it woke me up but it didn't last long so I went back to sleep. There is a safe and a fridge, as well as a stool and a chair. I didn't feel much movement except on sea day #2 of #3 right in a row we hit some rougher waters, and that could not be escaped anywhere on the ship. I would stay in this room again. Nice short walk to the elevator was also a plus!

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

First time out of New York, would sail from here again. The ONLY hiccup was it just happened to be "Fleet Week" (Google it!) and traffic was much worse by the port than usual from what I heard. Since I had an Uber I was able to be dropped right where i boarded the ship (taxis apparently aren't allowed in there). With as much luggage as I had I was super happy about that. I arrived at 11:15 and was able to walk right to the front of security and check in.

St. Thomas

Went to Trunk Bay over on St. John's. All I can say is WOW!! take a taxi ($10 each way) to the ferry. Take the ferry ($7 each way) to St. John's. Take another taxi ($6 each way) to Trunk Bay. Entrance fee is $4. There are no loungers or umbrellas but you can rent a chair. Also a bar shack for food and drinks. Ferry runs every hour on the hour so get off the ship at 20 after so you have time to take the first taxi and get tix to the ferry and you're not standing around waiting. Whole trip if you plan it right probably takes 50 minutes to an hour.

Antigua

Took a taxi tour from one of the local guys. Pros were it was air conditioned. That's about it. The island is very beautiful and a lot more developed than I would have thought but our driver.. It wasn't his day job! I would definitely go back though becAuse on our tour we did see some nice beaches. The people here are VERY pushy and bothersome trying to sell you their items. If you've been to Nassau you know what I'm talking about here. Get past them and see the real beauty of this island.
