I booked this cruise as a high school graduation gift for my daughter. I traveled with my husband, daughter and mother for this trip. For my mom and daughter, this was their first cruise ever. I have previously cruised on the Crown Princess but the Navigator was our first experience with Royal Caribbean.

Embarkation, for us was simple. Since we have family that lives close to Galveston, they dropped us off at the cruise terminal and left in our vehicle. The check in went very well. Plenty of staff were present and helpful during check in.

We purchased our drink package after check in but before boarding the ship at a table on the way. My husband and I purchased the soda only package. We're not big drinkers. Although, we did carry 2 bottles of wine aboard with no problems. I purchased the coffee package for my daughter so she could have the starbucks coffee. This package also included bottled water. I liked the fact that she could pick up a water before leaving the ship for the port or at night to take our meds. Overall, I think the drink packages for Royal Caribbean are too high. On our previous cruise with princess, it was 35$ a week for the sodas and mocktails for the WHOLE week. Princess's coffee card was also more reasonable, however princess coffee was undrinkable according to my husband (I don't drink coffee) and the navigator coffee was drinkable.

Interior Stateroom

We purchased an interior stateroom 6365. The room was visibly clean. However, one could detect smoking from previous guests. I have COPD so I try to avoid smoking areas if at all possible. I think if they replaced the carpet and gave everything a thorough wipe down with a disinfectant that would fix the problem. We like our room very cool and this was just not the case with this stateroom. We called maintenance to see if someone could check out our room to see if anything could be done. A maintenance man did come down and he did work on the thermostat. It worked a bit better but still not really that big of an improvement. I felt like there were plenty of cabinets and space in the closet. The safe was a bit finicky but did work. I did loooooooooooooove the fact that the t.v was on a swivel. Also, we could check on our onboard account, order room service, check out menus through our t.v. A really great idea! The bathroom was tiny but that wasn't a surprise. I was glad to see handles in the shower and a removable shower head/wand. Another quirk with our room, was the lack of extra washcloths. The room steward said there were a shortage and he was sorry.
