The Vikng Star is a fabulous ship. There are lots of areas for relaxing, talking, reading quietly. Style is clean lines, light colors. Felt open and airy. The food was just right. Portions perfect. Mamsens' waffles a nice start to the day. World Cafe with open kitchen served fresh food and had many choices. Loved that the desserts were of "tasting" size. Manfredi's Italian was our favorite "specialty" restaurant. The serving staff still needed some training. Most meals we had to wait too long for beverages. Their first priority seemed to be cleaning tables, not keeping an eye on the guests. On the other hand, the room stewards were well trained, accomodating, and efficient.

The customer service reps from initial phone contact to those on board were abrupt and unfriendly. Viking Air is a mess. Got a different rep with different answer every time we called. Economy Air was mentioned as an option in the brochure but Viking Air couldn't or wouldn't book it. Every plane we flew on had Premium Economy seats.

The itinerary change at the last minute was very disappointing. Five days at sea are too many. The Barcelona to Bergen cruise should be advertised as a repositioning cruise and priced accordingly. Need another day in port in Greeenwich and Rouen. The optional excursion that we took in every port were worth it. We took one "included" excursion --in Barcelona-- and it was awful.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony

Very clean. Not enough storage. Comfortable bed, pillows, duvet. Bathroom size average. Great shower. Heated floors in bathroom. Would prefer love seat to two club chairs.
