This was our second Oceania cruise (last year: Scandinavia and the Baltics on the Marina) and we just booked another cruise in 2016! The fine quality of the Oceania line has been maintained despite it's sale to Norwegian Cruise Line. The service, food, and decor are excellent, as usual. It's a wonder that such good bread is baked at sea. We had all our breakfasts in the Terrace Cafe, as well as some dinners. We have a preference for the Grand Dining Room over the specialty restaurants as you can walk in without a reservation and be seated immediately. The food selection offers tremendous variety, though one request: we would love to have sweet potatoes added to the menu. Since we had sailed on the Marina last year, we knew where everything was on this ship. The art work was the only real difference that I could tell. (Marina and Riviera are sister ships.) We had arranged quite a few independent excursions. This is a port heavy itinerary and the ship's excursion tend to be expensive and crowded. Embarkation and disembarkation were orderly and well-organized
Our veranda cabin was well-tended every day. The amenities included Bulgari toiletries. Such wonderful soap. The veranda bathrooms are spacious, large enough for two people at the same time. Was very impressed with the storage space in the cabin. Lots of careful thought went into the most efficient use of space. Though we didn't use the veranda that often, it extends the room and gives a lovely view.
There is nothing else like Venice! Magnificent! We were last there nearly 30 years ago, so it was like seeing it again for the first time. We arrived 3 days early, so we had 5 days in Venice. Definitely worth it. Really got to know the city beyond the touristy activities. Was so glad to be there during the Biennale art exposition.
Doesn't require an excursion. We walked around for 2 to 3 hours, visited a few sights including the art museum, sea organ, and old gates. Very friendly people. Not much else of note, so we went back to the ship for lunch.
