  • Destination: the British Isles & Western Europe
  • Cabin Type: Concierge Class 3

Fabulous ship and service. Charter - real bargain including daily gratuity. Many families onboard as school half term. There were 600 kids so Celebrity had extra crew employed in Fun Factory and X Club. Despite so many passengers and kids the boat never felt overcrowded except peak times in Oceanview Cafe.

Our two children loved it and had a wonderful time. Our teenage daughter disappeared until 1 am every night and appeared to love it but provided the usual single syllable response to most of our enquiries. Our little one in Shipmates wanted to go to every Fun Factory session and never seemed to get tired of it. The Fun Factory team were a delight and were enthusiastic throughout the 5 days. They were confident and fully able to handle a child with peanut allergy and epi pen!

Cabin 1038 was a decent size but cramped when sofa bed with underneath bed drawer was made up. Great shower room and balcony was a good size.

Main dining room was beautiful with lots of space. Dining chairs are large and a little difficult to move into position, but very comfortable. Waiter and assistant waiter were excellent and offered really useful advice on what was best from the menu. Food was lovely and I suggest that the best food is cooked to order, such as steaks. If you want food hot in the English way, make a point of mentioning to your waiter or MD and your meal will arrive on a blisteringly hot plate, however, I was very happy with the American style temperature. Personally, I felt the choice of food options was more limited than other cruise ships but I never had a problem finding something delicious to eat. Personal highlight was a perfectly cooked rare steak, American not English rare - fabulous.

The overall impression of the ship is very stylish with a mature atmosphere which we greatly appreciated. Ensemble lounge was comfortable with a lovely atmosphere. We loved the cello duet (string harmony duo) and went back 3 times to listen to them.

The shows were fabulous with wonderful singers, dancers and a superb band. The trumpet player was amazing!

Eddy, the cruise director was excellent, good style, friendly and approachable.

Generally, this was our best cruise yet. We would be delighted to return to Celebrity Eclipse. Cruising with a bit of style.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3
Cabin C3 1038

Good size but cramped with all beds made up. Good size balcony. Excellent shower room.

Apple TV did not work all of the time as expected. Example would only show first page of onboard account.

Location 1038 is just by the lifts which was very handy and there were no noise problems.
