We did not take an excursion. We were in shock how terrible our room was, we did not want to spend any more money on Carniva.

We just came back from a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. From May 24th – May 28th out of Port Canaveral, Florida. 

Our good friend booked her wedding on the cruise. We jumped in and booked it since we had a great experience with a previous cruise on the Carnival Magic. 

We were at least expecting the same quality of service from our previous cruise, but from the start it was a disaster. 

We were supposed to be one of the first people to be let on the boat, since we were with a wedding party. We waited in line for about 30 minutes, and once we finally got called to the counter, the first words out of the clerk was “today is my first day” . 

It is definitely not her fault, but there should have been an experienced worker by her side to teach her along the way. We were there for another hour. She was trying to get us checked in, had to do it manually because she couldn’t get the computer to work. The manager was rude to this poor lady. She also could not take our picture, therefore we had to wait another half hour for this other gentleman he was extremely nice) to take our picture. 

Finally on board, we are rushed to get ready for the wedding. After the reception, we go to our room for the first time. We had such an amazing time with the Magic ship that this time we paid extra to have a nicer room, with a Jacuzzi and a balcony. This was their best room. 

We walked in and as we began to check out the room we noticed the rusty looking, filthy brown shower curtain. The AC was not working. We brought this to the staff’s attention who said they wash it every couple of days and would wash it the next day. We told them it was unacceptable and we could not take a shower with that filthy curtain there.  They finally replaced the curtain, but the AC still was not working. 


I decided to enjoy the extra amenities of the room, and started a bath. After the tub was filled, I turned the jets on. As I was getting ready to hop in and relax, I see this yellowish, brownish, seaweed looking particles floating on the water. The scum that came out of the jets stained the tub with an orange color. I wanted to throw up from the thought that I was about to take a bath in that. 

We again, complained to management. I tried to explain that  the jets were the problem not the tub. They came and worked on the tub until 11pm as we are laying down trying not to fall asleep because they were still in our room. The next day I tried again, still filthy. They tried cleaning it 4 times but the water was still filthy. We took several pictures of the tub, each day we tried using it but we couldn’t. Needless to say the extra money we paid for the room was wasted. 

The bathroom sink was backed up, we also had to ask for someone to come fix it. 

Because of the nicer and expensive room we booked, we were told there would be a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us in the room. That did not happen either. 

We were supposed to get a 275 cruise credit on our account, we only had 225, which we had to argue and finally get a supervisor to fix the issue. 

We knew each one of us was allowed one bottle of wine. Although we did not know it was supposed to be in our carryon luggage, so our wines were in our checked baggage.  Our checked bags were already taken by the time we realized the wine needed to be carried on to the ship. They confiscated the wine, which after they explained it had to be in the carry on, we understood. But the problem with it was that they also confiscated my undergarments!! Which took a little bit of arguing in order to get it back. 

Maruysa was the only nice customer service rep. We had to go to guest services multiple, multiple times. 

The description of our rooms said it had floor to ceiling windows, well the windows were rusty and not floor to ceiling windows. Old, old, old, nasty boat. Extremely outdated. 

The air conditioner knob was on the ceiling. If my 74 yr old mother was on this cruise alone she would need to stand on a trash can to try to adjust temperature. Even for younger people that can be dangerous and cause serious injuries. We got the trash can trick from the steward and maintenance man. 

The rocking of the boat was ridiculous, there were no stabilizers. Several in our party were sick. 

We spent so much more money in order to enjoy the nicer room with extra amenities like the Jacuzzi tub. We feel we were cheated. This was the worst experience on a cruise ship AND the worst vacation all three of us have ever had. We hope that Carnival will redeem themselves. 
I would strongly suggest NEVER cruising on the Carnival Sensation.
