As a veteran cruiser on a variety of cruise lines, I had not taken a Carnival cruise until this cruise on their Imagination ship. It was a 4 day cruise to Ensenada Mexico and Catalina Island. I had heard that Carnival Cruises were for the budget-minded consumer, but what I did not expect was that the service, food, and ship would fall into that category as well. The pre- and post-cruise communication from Carnival was and has been abysmal - especially since they chose our cabin putting us in a handicapped cabin in the back of the ship; we did not ask for or need the handicapped cabin, yet they overcharged us $40 and as of yet, have not responded to any correspondence given to them during and after the cruise. The Imagination ship itself is extremely dated which would not be a problem in and of itself if the service, amenities, and food made up for it. The water in the pool was green, the entertainment was lame, and the food was horrible. In all of my years of cruising and loving it, this is the first time I came back from a cruise and felt like I was gypped. Although Carnival Corporation is the holding company for several cruise lines, their own namesake sure was a disappointment. I will not take a Carnival cruise again.
Handicapped room. Beds situated better than other cabins. Several of the handicapped items in the room did not work although we did not need them: open and close of cabin door, positioning of bathroom light switch. Cabin not meant for those that get motion sickness.
