Cabin: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

My wife and I have cruised many times on most cruise lines. We were extremely pleased being on The Breakaway. We drove to the pier and parking was very ample but was $280 for the week. The terminal prior to boarding the ship was, as many other reviewers have mentioned was early chaos. We ended up sitting on the floor awaiting our number to be called in order to board the ship. Be prepared to wait awhile.

We took a chance by stopping on the 10th floor to check our room. We were so lucky the room had been done, so we dropped off our bags. My wife and I went to the buffet for lunch. We were quite impressed with the array of food. As on all other cruise ships, they had salads and all the fixings, a selection of Indian food with several curry dishes, Chinese food dishes and desserts including ice cream.

As others have mentioned, the balcony is very small. During the entire cruise, the flushing mechanism on the toilet, did not function properly. You would sometimes have to push ten times before it worked. When you check in your cabin, make sure you have robes in your closet. When you disembark, they check for robes and charge you if they are missing--so make sure.

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

We opted for the mini suite with balcony because our room on The Gem was so tiny. We were disappointed that the room was smaller than we expected. It was fine and could move around freely without bouncing off walls. The bathroom was beautiful and three times the size from the one on The Gem. The balcony was way too small.
