My wife and I went on a seven day cruise with Celebrity and we had an absolutely phenomenal time! It was my wifes first cruise and we were actually down on our honeymoon after getting married in San Juan. Along on the cruise were 16 of our friends and family which made the trip even more special. Throughout the cruise I didn't hear anyone complaint of the ship being "dark". I'm not sure where some of the reviewers were but the ship is well lit. There are places, such as the dining room and theater, where the lighting is lower for ambiance and so your eyes are better able to adjust to shows. I also have to say that Celebrity really had a great group of islands that we got to visit. Several I had been to before but two, Barbados and St Marteen, were firsts and both islands were fantastic. I can say that after sailing with Celebrity their on-board entertainment and shore excursion line up is so much further ahead than Royal and Norwegian. If you don't want a hoard of people on your shore excursions look into the smaller Celebrity ships. You will have a lot more time and freedom on your shore excursions because there are less people on the smaller ships. This was something that I, and others that cruised before in our group, had noticed. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful if you had a question. Like I said earlier the entertainment was the best I've ever seen on a cruise ship, great job. Dining also was some of the best I've had. I didn't really think there would be a difference between cruise line with their Main Dining room food but there really is. Celebrity's food was absolutely delicious and if you can't find something on the menu then you are pretty picky because they have something for everyone. The buffet food was also good although we usually only ate breakfast up there before our excursions. I would recommend Celebrity having more pizza options, it seemed as though after dining room hours there became a shortage on the ship and people were running to get pizza for a late night snack.

One reviewer voiced a complaint about towels being reserved on the ship. We never had this problem at all and I'm wondering if this is a first timer mistake. Many people will simply leave their towels on the chairs instead of taking them to the recycle container or their rooms. They are not necessarily reserving them. It is first come first serve so if you get up to the pool deck and don't see anyone around a chair, or a member of their party isn't saving the seat, remove the towel and use the chair! I also never saw towels laying around because there was usually a pool attendant walking around picking up unattended towels. The public restrooms, as a side note, were some of the cleanest I've ever seen on a cruise ship which impressed me.

Overall we had an amazing time and after cruising Celebrity we will most likely never go on a larger cruise line again. Royal has gotten way to big and several of the frequent cruisers on the ship we talked to voiced that they prefer the smaller ships because of better service and they don't want to fight the crowds like on the Oasis class. This really was the perfect sized ship and it will be a shame if Celebrity models Royal and goes bigger. They have a great product and I wouldn't change it just because their big brother is making outrageously large ships.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 7

Cabin 07

My wife had never cruised before and this was my third time. Neither one of us had any complaints about the room. Yes, they are smaller but we are pretty active and were rarely in the room except for sleeping and changing into swim suits or dining wear. I will say that compared to other ships I've sailed on there wasn't as much storage but at the same time we had adequate space and didn't run out of it. Our main complaint was the bathroom storage where we wish there was more shelving or an opening mirror where the soap bottles and other items could be placed. This is where the ship shows it's age as the newer ships all have more "useable" storage. Our cabin was turned down every night by our stateroom attendant Fidelis and we saw him every day. He made sure that everything was going ok and it's always nice when you have a stateroom attendant that is personable. There were and are others that will slink away into the dark confines of the ship and you never see them, which shouldn't happen. Lighting was more than adequate in the rooms. We rarely had more than two lights turned on otherwise it was way to bright. You can tell that the ship is getting older in the bathrooms and it is getting to a point where Celebrity may need to dry dock and at least re-finish them because you can tell they are getting worn.
