We sailed from Amsterdam on the Eir and enjoyed the first four nights. The trip was to be seven nights, ending in Basel. The chef was excellent and we had a happy ship. Due to high water we were transferred by bus to the Mani and the Mani passengers were transferred to the Eir. The crew of the Mani had been told not to discuss how long they had been tied up at their location on the river. They finally, reluctantly, admitted the Mani and two other ships had been in that location for three nights, with the passengers being bussed everywhere. The food and service on the Mani were below par. We did not sail to Basel, but rather, were bussed. The cruise director said these circumstances were most unusual. We later learned this is a common occurrence. Viking knew before both the Eir and Mani sailed that there would be trouble due to the waters, but none of the Eir passengers were advised of anything until time to switch ships. We were even told not to ask questions. Not only has Viking not offered a refund, they didn't even offer to buy a drink. We will never again sail on Viking. My ratings below are a combination of both ships. In general the Eir was well run and, in general, the Mani was below par. The lack of information was inexcusable.
