embarkation went very smoothly. our first time at the new terminal in san fran. were were boarded in less than 30 minutes. room was ready upon our arrival. met our room steward who provided us with extra hangers as requested. stayed on the plaza deck. excellent location near art gallery. crown grill was above us so a bit on noise during dinner service but nothing terrible. international cafe was excellent. i recommend getting a coffee card if you are a coffee drinker. wonderful staff service. the ship was exceptionally clean after a stay in dry dock two weeks prior to our cruise. new furniture in horizon buffet as well as new carpet throughout a majority of the ship. the food in all venues was excellent. dining room diners were well prepared. i mainly chose fish entrees and the seafood was fresh, well cooked and nicely presented.
the staff of the ship was very welcoming and seemed energized. buffet service was better than most of the previous trips. plates removed promptly and beverages provided timely.
during our cruise there was a small outbreak of the norovirus. the captain made a detailed announcement the third evening. i was of the understanding there were several passengers affected and appropriate precautions were instituted. enhanced sanitation procedures were noticeable throughout the ship. washing of tables, chairs, stairway hand rails and no salt, pepper or rolls were placed on tables in the dining rooms. for a majority of the cruise the waiters handled the seasoning of food at the table. a minor issue.
