Started our holiday with 5 nights in San Francisco and had a late boarding due to uncontrollable circumstances. Having cruised with Oceania before we expected a great experience and weren't disappointed. The food (in our opinion) is the best at sea with only a few issues in the GDR with staff being a bit inconsistent. We had a Penthouse (8043) and loved the space and condition of the suite. The improvements following last years refurbishment are worthwhile and enjoyed the barista addition. The entertainment was better than expected and the cruise director (David Peterson) was just right. We did not overwork our butler but were pleasantly surprised by the canapes each evening.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite
Cabin PH1 8043
First time in a PH and it is a bit like the first time you have a balcony, it is had to go without it for future cruises.
The room was in good condition with loads of storage for clothes, shoes etc.
We often had another couple in for drinks and it wasn't crowded.

  • Dog Sledding
We were the only two on this trip and fly by helicopter to the dog waiting area.
Unusual sight to see all the dog kennels in the snow. Once we were introduced to the dogs who all had different personalities it was time to go.
The experience was awesome and the fact we were alone made it even better.
The dogs seem to enjoy the work and thrive on activity.
Recommend this highly (but not cheap!)

  • Misty Fjords Flightseeing
If you have the opportunity do this!
Flying across the rugged landscape and then landing on an alpine lake is breathtaking. The seaplane is a perfect way to see this area and we were blessed with a clear day

  • Sitka
It is interesting to visit some ports where there is such a mixed history such as Sitka.
The Russian origins give it some unique heritage and it mixes with the Indian culture.
We mainly walked around and enjoyed the serenity of the place
