I booked this cruise while on the Legend of the Seas in Apr/2014. We paid 2700.CDN for our Balcony stateroom which I think was very good value. The cruise was the first after a major refit. The first 2 days we could see and feel the hiccups. On embarkation day we had dinner at Giovanni's which was very good, our waiter Gary was one of the best we have had on a cruise. Considering some of the issues others had in the MDR is was a good call to have a specialty night dinner on the first night. Unlike Carnival no free bottle of wine though for those that book specialty dinners on the embarkation day. We also enjoyed Giovanni's on a port day and on the last sea day at lunch with Gary as our server. We had Chop's for dinner on a port day and it was not a wonderful experience from the start. They did not have our reservation for that night and wanted to charge us and then sort it out later. Since I keep copies of everything my DH went down to the cabin and brought up the proof of reservation and payment. Our appetizers were cold (not suppose to be) and our entrees warm. The view is very nice in Chop's though. Our cabin was always very clean and the upgrade was visible, one day there was a small period of time when the toilet did not flush. We enjoyed the special singer "Jacqui Scott" she was one of the best ever entertainers we have had on a cruise, DH even bought her CD. The group Horizon was Fantastic in the Star Lounge and played to a packed house every night. Wish there was someone playing in "Dizzy's" before it turns into a nightclub with a DJ. The skating show was good except for the "Hula Hoop" skater, I went to see a skating show. The outdoor party was on a very cool night and not what it could have been if done on a nice night. The MDR service and food improved after the first couple of days. Windjammers for Breakfast was often packed so we started ordering breakfast to eat on our balcony. With the new drink packages saw a lot of left over drinks on tables and still a lot of towels left on chairs, so often no were to sit in public areas. Ports Maderia: booked a DIY excursion with Madeira Tours to Monte, Toboggan Run and fishing Village, it was excellent considering it was not a very nice day. Tenerife: rented a car with Cicar, walk about 1/2 hours into town to pick it up. Did not know there was a free shuttle into town. We drove up to Mt Tiede and had a wonderful day which finished with a stop at a beach just out of town. Gran Canaria: booked car with Cicar, right at port. Great day exploring some small mountain towns and going to Mogan, Puerto Mogan, Masapolamas. Lanzarote: took ships excursion Fire Mountain and Camels. This was a terrific shore excursion finishing up at a very unique winery. Vigo: decided to just walk into town. Except for shopping not much to see or do. I would recommend a shore excursion to make more of this stop.
