We did not fancy cruising out of New York as we holiday in January and prefer the Caribbean.

The ship was quite nice, but as we are avid Oasis/Allure cruisers now, we found it a little cramped with a lot less to do. The shows were magnificent (270 was really new for us) the theatre rock show was superb, but do not believe other than English will understand the subtleties used. The robo screens are interesting, but the use of them with the New Orleans horns was a bit like being baby sat. They would possibly change the 'show' as it is computer generated, and for us, a little too much of the same thing. The headliner show (ventriloquist) was good, apart from some swearing which was unnecessary, especially as it was not advertised as an adult content show. Many young children were asking what the swear words meant.

Windjammer fantastic, it is good to make people wash their hands! Food variety was the best ever. The ifly is only a minute or two experience, but you might be able to sign up again. The dodgem (bumper) cars were fun as was the trapeze 'school' held in the dodgem arena. The North Star gives spectacular views, and you need patience - maybe an hours wait. As the line is on the running track, the line position needs rethinking. There was little for water entertainment for children, a pool with three tiny fountains. The pool has a wave generator - very gentle. The use of e-wristbands is good, but you still need your card to get off/on the ship, which we did not. We had no wish to spend 4 hours in a coach travelling to/from Paris nor journey just to get Belgian chocolates. A big bug bear was that the tax was charged on goods apparently because of EU regulations which means that it is more expensive on board!. One would have imagined if we were on the high seas, the ship should be able to sell. No cigarettes or alcohol were available for sale, although the shop was fully stocked. Also there is no malt in Johnny Rockets. There is a three person rock wall and the staff are very good as one would expect. Cabins are very good and the breakfast options better.

Cabin Review

Cabin owners

The cabin is out of this world. The problem is I now have to book an owners suit now or the wife will get upset! It is magnificent. Table & chairs, bubbling bath and separate full size shower. The stuff for use in the bathroom is very good and the plate of fruit every day appreciated. Tea and coffee is god, the only problem was we only had 4 tiny capsule's of milk, not nearly enough. But of course we got cartons of foreign labelled milk and stored in the refrigerator.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Not anywhere as good as Miami, Ft Lauderdale or Port Canaveral. There is extremely limited parking (this is England). There is parking set aside for various cruise lines and a public car park, but the best way is by taxi from the station or from your own door which is what we did
