Needed a break from a winter that didn't want to end, so with a little less than two weeks to departure, I convinced a good friend to go along as we needed the break. I had been playing with the idea in the back of my mind when I had read here last year on CC that the Veendam would be going from Boston to Hamilton (not the Dockyard) and we could drive to Boston and save money on airfare.
Embarkation was easy - we were on board for lunch. We found the traffic flow around the Boston Cruiseport a little confusing and trying to find out where to drop of the luggage and passenger wasn't very clear and the police officials seemed very impatient with people who did not know the area and how it worked (but that wasn't HALs fault).
We boarded on Deck 5 (which happened to be the deck where our room was). We checked out our room and the cabin steward was right there to meet us, introduce himself and his co-worker and ask if there was anything that we needed right away. The room was an inside cabin but it was larger than I thought it would be and had more than enough closet space and room for storage. We went upstairs for lunch and to do some ship exploring.
Lots of closet and storage. Nice seating area. Beds really comfortable. Cabin stewards assigned to that room were excellent.
