Hello Everyone!

Yesterday ended my first experience on the Carnival Victory. This was our 4th cruise. Prior to sailing, but post booking, we read many many negative reviews about the Victory and to be honest, we were very apprehensive about our trip prior to boarding.

Quick summary: Overall a good cruise. Good food, good staff (exceptions explained below) clean. Had a few bad experiences, but mostly a great time was had. Returned to port in Caymans due to a sick person, waited on them and was back underway. Cost us about a half our docking in Jamaica, but the Captain worked some magic and got us an extra two hours stay there to make up for it. Smooth embarkation, not so good debarkation.

Cabin 6B

If you want a quiet, cozy cabin, this is NOT your cabin. BUT, if you are like me and like ambient noise, a little motion and room, this is YOUR cabin. It is an odd shaped cabin that has lots of room and It's located below the Pacific dining room, but you'll never hear any noise from there. It's above the deck that holds the ropes, chain pulleys etc for the docking ropes and also above the props so you'll hear an occasional bang, or dong but mostly you'll hear and feel the engines and propellers while out of port. The hum of the engine noise and vibration of the props rocked my wife and I to sleep every night and the extra movement of not so gentle seas helped us to sleep well and sleep late. We personally loved the cabin because of the ambient noise and movement but if you suffer from motion sickness or cant sleep with some noise, this is not the cabin for you.

Port Reviews

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

This was our second trip to the Caymans. Our only "hiccup" was an issue with my S/S card not working but security fixed that as quickly as they could. We didnt book an excursion but did enjoy our walk around the pier and sight seeing as well as some souvenier shopping. We took advantage of the free wifi at Margaritaville. Beware that some places post their prices in the local currency but they are usually good about warning you about the exchange rate prior to your purchases.
