Hi all, as we have cruised a few times and never shared our trips I thought I would post some info. We recently took our 6th cruise, this one was from Fremantle Western Australia to Asia. Ports included Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Phuket and Singapore. We were told by Princess that we should not arrive before 1.30PM but Princess had previously advised that as we were Platinum card holders we could board earlier. We were told by port security we could not enter the cruise departure lounge but subsequently escorted up by a Princess staff member. We boarded the ship at about 12 PM.
Weather was nice leaving Fremantle but we struck a cyclone off the North West of Australia two days in. Swell was around 5 metres but the ship handled it well. We booked a transfer into KL, Petronas Tower for $49 AUD each for a 70 minute trip that was supposed to take 90 minutes from Port Klang so good value. We walked into Penang town to check out the shopping but be warned the foot paths, "loosely termed" were a bit of an obstacle course. Langkawi was a short ride from the port area, it could be walked if you are reasonably fit. Duty free shopping was great especially for spirits. There was a happy hour on at the Wheelhouse bar twice daily at 3PM and again at 11PM, "buy one get one free" was the catch cry. All drinks up to $10 AUD were in the deal. Princess had the same deal on the Diamond Princes off Australia last year in December 2015.
The food was fantastic on this cruise, I did not receive a bad meal during the trip. Our cabin steward looked after us well and always had a smile. Dis Embarkation at Singapore was smooth except for the wait for the taxi but that was expected as we had not pre booked transfers to the airport. Taxi ride was about $25 Singapore dollars from the Marina Bay port.
Cabin was reasonable size for an interior. Shower was larger that normal. Bed was comfortable. Carpets were quite new.
