This was our 8th cruise, our 2nd on Carnival, 1 on Princess, 4 on Royal Caribbean and 1 on Celebrity. I am in my early 50's and my husband is in his mid 50's. We enjoy vacations and find cruising to be the best value. I must say, I prefer a more high-end experience than my husband ,so we sometimes don't agree on what is considered nice. I have also worked various customer service jobs (from rep to director) for over 30 years so I know good customer service when I see it. My husband booked this cruise because he is retired military and got a great rate. Honestly I wanted to sail the Celebrity Summit and could have for only $38/pp more and still have a balcony room, but my husband waited to late to book. Although I didn't want to be on this ship, I must say I enjoyed myself. Embarkation - Excellent! Well organized and quick. RCCL and Celebrity could take a page from Carnival's book. Also the terminal in Miami is very nice.

Ship - I have to be honest here. This was the ugliest ship on which I have ever sailed. It is obvious I don't get Carnival's decor at all. At one point I was sitting on the Lido deck and counted 10 different patterns of decor around me. It was quite unnerving for me. With that said, the ship was very, very clean. The public areas were always clean. I am one that does not like to use public restrooms, but the ones on this ship were always clean and more importantly smelled clean. The dining rooms were also hideous. The themes were gold and silver. Again, the ship had patterns that did not match or blend with anything else in the dining rooms. I noticed in the Silver Dining Room, I looked up and in the area that was painted silver, there was something pink protruding from the light fixtures. It was some sort of lights. Not to mention the striped chairs and many print patterns everywhere, not to mention the crushed velvet on the walls. Again I just don't get Carnival's dEcor. I also like dining to be a better experience. For me dining in blue jeans and short is something I can do at home. When I sail, I want to do things I wouldn't normally do at home. Such relaxed dining room attire reminds me of home and I want a vacation that is nicer than what I can do at home.

Cabin - We had an aft cabin on deck 6. Because we were near the end of the boat we had a long narrow balcony. I will say the balconies are not as deep as the other ships we have been on. This made it a little difficult to work around the chairs and table on the balcony. I found the cabin to have adequate storage and was immaculate. The bedding was excellent as was the bathroom. The Liberty does not have shower stalls like some of the other ships we were on, but the use of the shower curtain was not a problem. I do like the fact the bathroom was stocked with extra toothpaste, razors, antacids, etc. I thought that was a nice touch. Again, RCCL could take a page from this book.
