Sail Date: Apr 2015

Sailing on the Ruby's first Alaska cruise of the 2015 season, the dark clouds foretold the embarkation soon to be experienced at the Vancouver port terminal. The picture in my memory fresh with hordes of humans being driven to mind-slaughter. Anticipating our arrival was the "Ruby Princess", certainly a carrier of great capacity, Over 4000. It took only 4 hours to board after arrival at YVR. Late transfers, endless lines and turnstiles would put Disney to shame.

The greatest calamity was the ship itself. Uncaring privileged staff in charge, lacking the usual Princess spirit, "To take you away completely." Not from your troubles, but to cause you much stress, anxiety and blood clots in the legs from running back and forth to the pursers desk.

If this foretells the 2015 season of cruising to Alaska, I would warn all potential passengers to pack their ice packs and oxy-contin, and possibly consider a more relaxed vacation skate boarding the Great Wall of China!

Cabin Review

Cabin AC

Of course the suite was roomy with a comfy bed and 2 televisions to keep a long time married couple happy. The room steward was great as usual. The only negative is that the carpet seemed infested with dust fleas, I had to request the room be sprayed. As for the rest of the ship, do not wear perfume, due to dust fleas in most major public areas, if you are sensitive to such things.....

Port Reviews

Vancouver

I did not know that upon arriving in Vancouver from USA, you are required to go through customs twice. Once upon entering Canada, and then again at the port into USA, which according to the amount of time it takes, they clearly do not hire enough employees to embark over 3000. people to the ship.
