Travelled with my 76 year old Mum who was new to cruising, I have cruised several times in the past with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and MSC. Each cruise line caters for a different market and I picked P & O as I thought this would appeal to my Mum's generation - actually I loved the ship just as much. I have to say, there seemed to be a large number of the passengers who have sailed with P & O several times before and all they did was complain about the differences between Brittannia and other ships - all seemed minor queries and not what would spoil a holiday! Stayed in a balcony cabin which was well laid out, lovely decor, spotlessly clean, plenty of storage, comfortable bed, large TV and great shower. Yes, the balcony was small but not a major issue. Food on board was excellent- far better than Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. The Horizon buffet was well planned and large enough for the ship's passengers (ship was full). Food varied, always hot and well cooked and could always find a seat. Main evening restaurant was Freedom Dining- turn up any time and request a table size- we always asked for a table for two and only waited once for 20 mins- good system whereby you can go and have a drink and are paged so no hanging around. Service was very good and food very good. Grab & Go sandwich stall, pizzeria and grill on pool deck used several times and great to be able to have lunch at the poolside. The theatre cast was excellent and while the shows were full, we always managed to find seats even 10 minutes beforehand. Superb technical effects, great singers and dancers and specialist acts- sound levels a little loud at times. Could do with more entertainment during the day and a singer, quartet or the like in the atrium at night plus more singers in the bars. Casino small but never crowded. Photo shop system excellent- easy to find and purchase photos on screen Shops expensive and didn't see much being purchased Service from all staff excellent at all times- prompt and friendly and really made the whole cruise enjoyable Tea and coffee in cabins great idea. Gratuities at £3.95 a day and drinks prices reasonable compared to American cruise lines - in addition to which no 15/20% service charge on drinks Pool/deck areas very spacious and well laid out- heated pools a bonus in Norway in April. 3 smoking areas on ship but not all detailed in map/newsletter- had to find by word of mouth Embarkation/disembarkation very well organised and quick , also good shore excursions. All in all we both had an excellent holiday- yes some small improvements could be made but would recommend this ship and P & O

Was I on the same ship?
