Sail Date: Apr 2015

We have just returned from a 10 night pacific discovery cruise and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. This was our second south pacific cruise, having previously sailed on the carnival spirit which was a fantastic ship.

The embarkation process was easy and we were on-board within 30 minutes of our 12pm check in time. entering the ship we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the ship was, yes.. the ship is an older boat which is showing signs of wear and tear but it has a great décor in the public areas and was always kept spotlessly clean.

Most of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and friendly, especially the barman at the deck 12 splash bar and our cabin steward Ashadi. Drink prices range from $5.75 AUD for a can of VB, $7.75 for a pour of spirit and between $10 - $15 for cocktails.

Cabin Review

Cabin Grade OJ

The cabins on the Pacific Pearl are very roomy as far as cruise ships go, with a walk in wardrobe area leading to the bathroom. the shower is also twice the size I'm used to. the cabins do have an 80s décor with orange carpets and old wood, but was adequate for our needs and always kept spotlessly clean by the steward.

Port Reviews

Isle of Pines (New Caledonia)

My Favourite spot!!! the beaches here are just amazing for snorkelling and swimming. snorkelling is to the right of the tender jetty, by the sacred rock and the best swimming is on the beach to the left.

there are the usual market stalls to purchase food and drinks.

Port Vila

We had a fantastic day in Port Vila, wandering around town and just doing our own thing. Next time I will take a tour to see even more of this beautiful place.

Lifou

My first time to the Isle of Lifou, another tropical paradise. the snorkelling seemed good here with an abundance of turtles in the water. we hired bikes and went sight seeing to the church and shopping at the market.

you can also buy a pass to snorkel at jinek bay, but only 200 people are allowed on the beach per day so book early to avoid disappointment.
