This was our 13 th Cruise, all with Princes. Our Cousins from So. Cal. joined us in sharing a more affordable mini suite. My wife had just retired so it was a great way to start of her leaving the work routine. We have done this cruise 2 times before & have seen most of the Islands, so shore excursions were not important to us. We spent the night at their place and headed to port of L.A. Saturday morning. Although the San Diego Fwy. was super busy as usual, we arrived in about an hour's time, so far so good. The Port of L.A. was typically very busy at 12:15, but still able to board the ship by 1 pm. So much better, and more organized than Ft. Lauderdale. Despite the Crown Princess also in port, the lines moved fairly well, and we headed right on to the ship & the dining room for lunch of course. Typically, most head up to the Horizon Court Buffet, when first boarding, but it's always too crowded, & hard to locate an empty table.

Off to our mini suite on Dolphin Deck 9, aft. We enjoyed a larger stateroom, & bathroom which came in handy with four adults sharing a room, over 2 weeks. Our balcony did not get cleaned thoroughly & looked weathered. We met our steward James, & he was quite friendly and kept our room serviced in an efficient manner the entire cruise. We even got a few "towel animals" made up for us, first time ever ! The ship inside looked very nice, despite some outside rust and rustic looking balcony areas. The Ruby will be undergoing some much need refurbishing in Victoria in December. Good luck trying to clean & paint exteriors there in the Winter ? The inside was spotless & in pretty decent shape considering the daily wear & tear.

We had anytime dining and after waiting in line for an hour to see the Maitr'd we were assigned a specific table every night by 5:30, no lines, or waiting for us ! Our Waiter Daniel & his trusty sidekick Roderick took care of our every wants & needs, including our VIP Salads with avocado every night, yum ! Thanks to Daniel we were always out of the Michael Angelo by 6:40 even with desert,in plenty of time for the often sold out Princess Theater. Get there early, or you won't get a seat until the later show. Most of Princess loyal following is well over 60 and in bed by 11 pm every night, typically.Food, service & entertainment were consistantly very good, throughout our cruise. Our morning server Mirjana from Serbia was our best ever. Friendly, & personality +, she went above & beyond every day, & greeted us with a huge smile & hug !

Cabin Review

Cabin AB

Nice bathroom with xtra space which we needed, great shower & plenty of hot water. 2 TV's hardly used, but nice. Sofa sleeper for 2, not very comfortable for both of us, but for one, fine.Balcony a little weather beaten & rust, needs refurbishing !

Port Reviews

Did a little shopping & walked down to Babies Beach, and enjoyed a great beach day in the warm water. Later we met our cousins at the Bubba Gump restaurant for a nice lunch ,and cocktail. There was a very long line in the hot sun to return back on the tenders to the ship, so we had a little snack, and beers, before getting into line.

We all don't really care for Ensenada & sure wish Princess would understand this & stop in "Cabo"

instead. More people would be happier & get off to enjoy a much better port to visit. I would say only 20 % of 3,100 passengers even got off the ship in Ensenada !

Wal Mart for souvineers again, lousy weather as usual. We sure wish they would call on Kona instead (tender)we like it much better, & town/city is right there where you come "in" !

Met our friends outside of the ship and they gave us a tour of their Island home, beautiful ! We did get some rain & lost visibility after the drive up to the grand canyon of the Pacific, disappointing ! We had a nice brunch @ Joe's on the Green. Best Pancakes (macadamia nut & banana) I have ever eaten, yum !
