Thought I would give NCL a try. Good initial prices. Booked interior for two around $780. Not bad I thought. But, after spending a week on board, I can see what NCL is doing, and they will not get my business again ever. Here is what I saw:
EMBARKATION - Actually went well. Mainly due to the fact that the star was one of only two ships in port. Plus, San Pedro is a very easy port to embark in. Stayed at the Double Tree (off a priceline bid $70) and it was great. Nice, (not upscale), but they a) give free rides to the port, b) let you park for free all week, and c) come and get you when you return. Kudos to them! Got on board in about an hour. Thought things would be fine.
CABIN - Okay, the good. The room was bigger than I thought for an interior cabin. Set up good. Bathroom was the largest I have seen (or so it seemed) for a cat 4a cabin. Liked the shower with a real sliding door. Now the bad: pretty filthy. Mirrors had hand prints and other "biological waste," on them. One bed had mouse feces on it. No kidding! Table covered with sticky substance. Unknown what. Broken closet door. Dirty carpet. Safe operated and then locked up on day 4, making a long wait to get off ship to port. Nuts.
I don't want to tell you what was on the mirror above the bed. But the shower was large.
