Sail Date: Apr 2015

Our issues with MSC began before the cruise when release of our tickets was refused because MSC claimed to be owed £26 by our travel agents so we didn't know if we would be going on the cruise until 3 days before we were due to fly to Genoa. This had an impact on our feelings on MSC which I will try to override for this review!

Embarkation

Initially smooth and quick until someone tried to sell us the drinks package we had already bought on booking the cruise because we had been given sea passes with the incorrect code. No one seemed willing to help and we had no option than to board the ship and immediately join an already long line of disgruntled guests at receprion. We were told nothing could be done until later that day. This was blatant lie 1 as by asking then demanding to see the duty manager to whom I had to show our MSC Club gold level cards our cards were changed and were even delivered to our cabin.

Port Reviews

Palermo (Sicily)

Manic! Yes it's tatty and grimy but we want to go back for a longer stay. Although ships berth seemingly close to the town, distances can be deceiving - give yourselves time

Rome (Civitavecchia)

If you have been to Rome before, take time to explore Civitavecchia in its own right. It has a nice seafront to meander on. The free port shuttle bus actually takes you to a shabby carpark 15 minutes from the town centre, surrounded by excursion touts. Instead, a 15 minute walk from the ship takes you to the seafront

Sardinia

Called at Cagliari insted of Tunis and were glad we did. It was pretty and a joy to explore. Make the effort to get to the castle and cathedral. The views are magnificent
