Cabin: Large Ocean View Stateroom

My husband and I had been planning to cruise through the Panama Canal for several years, choosing this as a way to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary. We had cruised recently on the Grandeur of the Seas, which we loved, so chose her sister ship the Legend rather than another ship or cruise line. The ship is older, but still elegant. We had no issues with cleanliness in our stateroom or in the public areas, and the crew was attentive to our every need. There were some minor issues during our trip, but when you travel you need to have a sense of humor and be ready for anything. Our 3rd day out, an engine breaker blew, leaving us literally “dead in the water” for several hours. Elevators were out, and A/C didn’t work, but the crew tried to make up for the inconveniences. We joked with other passengers about renting our flashlight to those in inside cabins (totally dark!!) and just tried to keep a light spirit going.

The ports were interesting, and the only tendered port, Cabo, was done quickly and efficiently. There were some cases of norovirus towards the end of our cruise, but the crew again acted quickly and efficiently to try to curb the illnesses’ spread. We did miss seeing the acrobatic show in the Centrum, but were told that the computer was waiting on a repair part. We totally enjoyed seeing the Captain most mornings in the Windjammer café, joined by his lovely wife. My husband and I agreed that there was much more interaction between the officers and passengers on this sailing, kudos to Royal Caribbean.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin H

Cabin was typical for a Large oceanview stateroom. I believe our steward was fairly new, communication with him wasn't the best. He did what was required, but not the little additional touches we've become accustomed to. (Took 3 days to get an ice bucket). Location of cabin was good, except for late night when they were cleaning the dining room (chairs moving, vacuum, etc.), but only lasted a little while.

Port Reviews

Puerto Vallarta

We took a shuttle from the cruiseport downtown to the Mercado, a walkway along the beach lined with various little shops. Beautiful views of Puerto Vallerta and the ocean. Good prices in the shops, not too much strong-arming. Very pretty walk, and there's a beautiful cathedral within walking distance of the shore.
