  3. Carnival Miracle
We had 2 adults and 2 kids, 4 and 7. This is my 3rd cruise, 1st with Carnival. We got in at Long Beach at 2pm (I know, we cut it very close.) We did book the cruise transfer just in case if our plane may be delayed. Cruise transfer was on time and very comfortable. I booked this cruise early March after reading about March drydock for Fun Ship upgrades. We were especially interested in the Suess in Sea activities and the Game show as both of my kids loves Cat in the Hat and the games. Carnival website listed those as "Coming Soon" for Miracle at that time. All the press releases and the Carnival website made me believe that those activities will be available for our sail. I do understand that things could change and activities may not be ready as planned. However, Fun ship 2.0 is not a new concept for Carnival. It's been around for more than a year. It really should be ready to roll after drydock. It was a big disappointment. Activies: Sea Day 1: This day was fine as it's the first day. We just explored around. Cabo: We stayed overnight at a resort for the night. PV: Booked the excursion from the cruise ship - Las Caletas island. This was the best day on this cruise ship. The island was very fun for kids. The kids did zipline and animal encounter. But time is short on the island. We only have one hour left at the beach for water activites after zipline. 2 Sea Days: Our last 2 sea days were awful. There was nothing to do for adults and kids. Mini golf was closed for both days as it was windy. The upper decks are always windy and cold when ship is in motion. Pool water is never heated. Waterslide is always cold to use. This is a family trip where we wanted to do things together. We were not interested in Kids club. However, we ended up sending them there for two hours each day so they don't just stay in cabin and play with ipad as there is nothing else they could do on ship. We did try to make it to towel folding class. It was just too crowded and no place to even sit and fold. Food: We were assigned late dining. When we cruised with NCL last time, dinner buffet choices were plenty. We didn't feel the need to even go to main dining room. So our original plan was just to do buffet most of the time so we can catch the 1st show and go sleep when kids needed to. However, they had only one station open at buffet, plus salads, pizza(24hr) and deli. After 3 days of buffet, we just couldn't take it anymore. We are paying $$$ not to go hungry on a cruise. They would not accommodate us for anytime dining or early dining. We tried very hard to make it to main dining the last 3 days. Food was a little better, though my 4 yr old fall to sleep on the dinner table. Late dinner means we have to stay up late for the late show. We were just tired by then. We want to have fun and enjoy the ship. However, we just felt tired at night and nothing to do during the day. We were so happy to get off the ship. Show: The night shows at the main stage were all very good. We enjoyed them all other than the last a few were late shows, we could barely open our eyes. That's where the one of the stars comes from. Service: Another star added for service. Decor: Some of the decor around the ship is not appropriate for kids. There are a lot of paintings with half naked people. One is right at dining room entrance. They really should have done something at drydock to replace those. Summary: We will probably not sail with Carnival again for a few years. The cruise just didn't leave us much good memory. We were hungry on a cruise. We are planning an Alaska cruise this year and a Caribbean cruise for next Feb. We will definitely be going with another line.

We had 2 adults and 2 kids, 4 and 7. This is my 3rd cruise, 1st with Carnival.

I booked this cruise early March after reading about March drydock for Fun Ship upgrades. Cabin size is ok. Decor and room condition seems very dated.

  • Las Caletas
The trip was around 6 hours. 1 hour each way on a boat to the island. Lunch was included.

Fun activities for kids, such as zipline and animal encounter. However, time on island is very short.
