I was on board the Celebrity Solstice December 7 - 14, 2008. I was in CC class - cabin 2105 on the Resort Deck #12.
The highlights - The smoothest embarkation and debarkation process ever. Stunningly beautiful public rooms - elegant, often understated and refined. Nothing garish, glitzy or gaudy. An amazing level of attention to detail - if you look carefully, you'll find that they planned details of the ship at a level far different than your typical cruiseline. Very good food and somewhat uneven service in the main DR; superb food and service in the specialty dining (Tuscan and Murano). Beautiful and innovative cabin amenities - not perfect, but really, really good.
In more detail - The Cabin - 2105 is a CC class balcony cabin on deck 12. The bed is closer to the door, so the 6' sofa is near the balcony door. The cabin has a remarkable amount of drawer storage, but the closet would have been tight for two - especially two women with gowns/dresses, or for a longer trip. The bed was comfortable, and the array of entertainment available on the TV was remarkable - on demand movies, many channels, music channels - really wonderful stuff. Even though the on-demand movie feature didn't always work reliably, you could spend a day or two in the cabin just browsing. This is a hump cabin and the balcony is huge - at least 10 feet deep. Since this is the widest point facing back on the ship, it has a video camera. I found that disconcerting, even though I'm well-behaved... you might like 2107 better - a similar balcony, without the obvious camera shot. The bathroom is beautiful - tons of storage and a more generous shower than many ships. I missed having a hand-held shower, though, and I thought the toilet space was a little cramped. The Leading Ladies who contributed to the design must have had trim husbands. The only real negative was the creaking - the cabin walls and ceiling made a lot of noise at night. Just the shipboard creaking that happens sometimes. I heard this complaint from Sky Suite guests on my floor, but didn't hear any comments about this from passengers on lower decks.
Cabin 2105 - huge balcony - facing back on the ship.
Ignore the video camera, and you're all set.
