This was our 7 cruise on Carnival and the first on the Sunshine. Port Canaveral is a wonderful port and have gone out of this port several times before with no delays or issues. The experience this time was not the case as apparently our check in prior to arriving to the port did not save which cause delays in getting through the embarkation process. The Carnival employee was courteous as was her supervisor which had to be called in to complete the process.

Once on board the Sunshine the décor was very tasteful and minus the glitzy and dated neon which is present on the older Carnival ships. Overall the Carnival staff was pleasant and friendly with the exception of some of the bartenders who were less friendly when you were only at the bar for a soda. The food on the Sunshine was very good and the Sunshine provided several additional dining options which were not found on our prior cruises. The upcharge on the three specialty restaurants was well worth the cost.

We traveled with another family each with one teenager and since it was over Spring Break the ship was virtually sold out and there were over 1400 children and teens aboard. Carnival does a great job with the children and teen programs. Our girls practically spent the entire cruise in Circle C and with a bunch of teens they met on the cruise. Activities on the Sunshine were comparable to the other Carnival cruises we have taken and there tends to be something for the whole family to do when your not sleeping.

Cabin Review

Spa Interior

Cabin 4S

At the recommendation of a Carnival reservation agent we booked the spa level stateroom. The room's décor was tasteful and very convenient to the Cloud 9 spa and Serenity. This room does come with some spa perks which were great but the main negative to this room is the size it is very small and configuration is awkward when the beds are put together. In fact the configuration does not allow you to access one side of the bed due to the closets. The second negative was the room temperature which always seemed warm even though the air appeared to be running all the time.
