I drove from the West Coast of Florida (Sarasota) to Fort Lauderdale the night before the cruise, staying at the Hampton Inn at Plantation Fl. Nice hotel, I'd stay there again. Next morning I drove (20 minutes) to Port Everglades, dropping off my luggage and parking my car in the garage ($15.00/day) (very easy) no hassle, guards are there to help you.

This was my 5th cruise with HAL and 3rd time on the Westerdam. I must say this was by far the best cruise I have every taken for relaxation. I went "solo" on this cruise and decided to splurge and get a "Neptune Suite". I was a little disappointed in the size of the "Neptune Suite" (Cabin 4180) not as large as shown in the picture advertisement, has a sofa only with 1 chair and a little tight, but it was comfortable. But --- the balcony was huge, you could hold a dance out there. It was at the very rear of the ship with a wrap around balcony where I spent most of my time. Absolutely wonderful for reading a book and just staring at the water.

I had room service each morning for breakfast, which was prompt and exactly as ordered by a friendly waiter. I prefer to just relax in my bathrobe and have breakfast there instead of going to the Lido, which sometimes becomes a hassle.

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SB

If you look at the picture of the Neptune Suite #4180 it looks huge, but in actuality it's much smaller with only 1 sofa and 1 chair. The deck makes up for it though, very large wrap around.
