Having sailed numerous times with Celebrity we knew what to expect from the ship however, this part of the World was a completely new experience and one we had wondered would work well utilising a cruise.

Delighted to report that the cruise itinerary served us as well as we could have hoped. OK, some of the key places to visit were several hours drive from the ports but we knew that when we booked. It does annoy me when people moan about distances - they are what they are! The itinerary was well balanced with a good mix of shore time (the overnight stays helped) and sea days to help balance the hectic land time and some time to chill out and ended up the perfect introduction to south east Asia.

Having sailed more recently on Solstice class ships there was a noticeable gap in standards, facilities and quality with this older Millennium class ship hence I have only given a 4 star overall rating. We booked our usual Aquaclass, mainly for the benefit of dining in Blu which, this time fell well short of its Solstice equivalent. It seemed to lack the space ratio of the larger ships where table availability is rarely an issue and the food quality was no where near Solstice class standards. Perhaps the itinerary contributed to the crowding problem where guests were less flexible than on a typical Caribbean type cruise. On the plus side the Sommellier was the best ever and, if anyone is travelling Millennium Aquaclass then you must attend his wine seminar of food pairing - brilliant!

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

Perfectly adequate for 2 people. Clean, quiet, comfortable and well appointed (apart from the usual useless hair dryer). Nice open balcony was occasionally affected by soot but, for the most part, not an issue. Cabin stewards kept everything 100% at all times.

Port Reviews

Hong Kong

Very easy to get round using public transportation once you got used to it. Got up to the Peak, the Star Ferry, Kowloon (including an excellent "Kowloon in 8 markets guided walking tour). Free shopping centre shuttle between ship and a downtown mall. Weather was very hazy so impaired some of the views
