I sailed on the NCL Jewel before and when I saw it sailed from Houston this was a no-brainer for my gift of a cruise to my niece.

I have preconceived notion of what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised and a few areas. First, I heard there was 750 children on board and I would say 99% of them were extremely well behaved. I enjoyed sharing the cruise with them. In fact I Delighted in seeing their joy and reaction to several things.

I had expected to play a lot of trivia on board as I have enjoyed it in the past. However, the trivia on board to Jewel has changed dramatically. I am not a fan of the large group on screen and video trivia. We played a few times and had fun but it was not as enjoyable.

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SF

Quiet, corner aft suite. The one negative I had was the storage. Some of those drawers are so shallow they're basically worthless. The hangers in the closet or so large it was hard to maneuver them.

Loved having the dining table. Loved the bed and pillows. Even though we had a tub, the bathroom did not feel not serious just standard. The penthouse suite bathroom in the aft cabins on the Sun are much much nicer.

Loved the Lavazza.

We really enjoyed the extra space.

After several aft cruises, we will be on the Jade in 2017 for a first ever forward suite. We want to do the spa passes and thought that would be great for proximity. I don't want to get in the rut of always choosing the same thing and it's nice to mix it up.

Port Reviews

Houston

Bayport terminal and VIP check-in was very easy. I look forward to cruising out of this terminal again in the future, as I live in Dallas.

I wish I had planned ahead to go to the Johnson space Center. I will definitely do that next time.
