We have had 2 great cruises with Thomson - Egypt & The Holy Land and the Caribbean. We looked forward to this cruise mainly to Madeira and Morocco (for Marakesh) as we'd been to the Canaries before. As usual the flight, transfers, check-in, waiter service, housekeeping, cabaret shows, excursions and food were great but the ship!!! Where do I start?
Being retired but enjoying a few holidays in Spain this year we tried to keep the budget down on this cruise. We decided not to upgrade the cabin this time. What a mistake! We were allocated, on arrival, cabin 4101 which was right in the middle at the bow and it was minuscule. Two single beds. I read that they could be repositioned to make a double but no room! The shower was ancient with a shower curtain (hate them as reminds us of Psycho lol). Cabin really showing its age.
Surely as returning customers thomson could have informed us of their choice and details of cabin. We may well have changed our minds and upgraded. Pity. What really annoyed us was on two nights running we were woken by real loud bangs as high waves crashed against the hull. We actually felt concerned - they were so loud.
