This was just my second cruise, first on RC and first cruise in 12 years so I am not likely to be as critical as more experienced cruisers that have more to compare. This cruise was just my wife and myself, so it was a wonderful vacation for both of us. We arrived at the San Juan port around 3. The embarkation process went pretty quickly, I had expected it to be slower but it went smoothly. There was one glitch in that our sea pass card was not accepted at the final entry point to the ship so that did give us an anxious moment, but the card was quickly replaced and we were on our way. We had an outside stateroom. Of course they are all small, so I recommend getting at least a balcony or the largest possible stateroom. All balconies had been sold when we booked this cruise in January, 2015. I was satisfied with the food for lunch at Windjammer Cafe. I was always able to find something regardless of theme. My wife tended not to like it as well, but she is generally not fond of buffet type restaurants anyway. We preferred breakfast in the MDR and you got seated served and finished at least as quickly as Windjammer, plus your food was always freshly prepared. If you were in a hurry to meet an excursion, just tell your server and they will move your order to the front of the line. The MDR for dinner is where I would be most critical as yo the food. The wait staff was excellent and each meal I had was very good and I always found something on the menu, but I think this is where I expected a little more oomph to the choices. The lobster tail and prime rib on the second formal night were excellent. I guess I expected these type choices and perhaps a filet to be available every night. My wife raved about the duck and the leg of lamb on the nights those were available.

I would recommend at least the premium drink package for anyone that does any amount of drinking alcohol. I know this sounds like I am a lush, but if you are a drinker over the course of the day to have a couple of drinks or beers by the pool, another before dinner, a couple at dinner and a drink or two while being entertained at the various clubs or the casino afterwards is not unusual and it is not like the drinks are overflowing with alcohol. I will say they were made sufficiently and again, I have no complaints from the bar staff.

The ports were excellent. We booked two excursions through the ship - the Scenic railway tour in St Kitts and the 4x4safari and beach break in Barbados. We were both well satisfied with both of these excursions. In the other ports we booked excursions through independent providers and were satisfied with those as well.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

Bed was nice. Attendant was excellent. Like all of them too small bathroom is small and not much cabinet or drawer space. TV was old, but I didn't come on the cruise to watch TV

Port Reviews

Dominica

We were not impressed with the port area. Others that went on excursions seemed to have a good time. We actually went on a whale watching tour through an independent which turned into a nice boat ride, no whales. The views of the island from the boat were pretty. Went back to ship and got a massage.
