this was the first time i had ever taken royal caribbean and had been told wonderful things about the cruiseline. while the staff onboard, the shore excursions, and most of the amenities were wonderful, i found the customer service to be the worst i had ever experienced on any cruise. This was actually the consensus of everyone at our dinner table (my friend and i were with people we didnt know who all concurred) and people we spoke with onboard. it took us three hours waiting in line in the hot sun to finally board the cruise. this was after the cruise had forgotten to come to our hotel and pick any of the guests up who had prearranged pickup through the boat. when we confronted the front desk about this, they were unhelpful and rude. at the end of the cruise we signed up for luggage valet - paying 20 dollars to have the cruise check your bags through. my friend paid and never received a luggage tag to valet and has not yet received a refund. i paid, but my luggage did not arrive. when i contacted the cruise, they blamed the airline, who confirmed the cruise never checked in the bag. they located the bag and told me they had searched through my stuff, taken out the bottle of wine i had bought and shipped the luggage and would not reimburse me for the wine, not answer why they had authority to check through my belongings without my consent. the final day of the cruise the systems shut down and passengers were not able to get off the boat. very disappointing.
my favorite part of the trip was the belize zoo. it was outstanding and the animals were just incredible. i was delighted at the variety and how close you could get to the animals. i woudl certainly recommend this for people with children or even without. i am an adult and loved the experience. i also enjoyed tulum which was breathtaking.
The cabin amenities were fine. The stateroom attendant was outstanding and very kind.
