The most important thing that I noticed and felt on this trip was the greatness of the staff! It was obvious that they all enjoyed working on the Gem and with each other! Before leaving I had read a few negative comments about the state of the ship, food, and lack of activities. I guess each person makes or breaks their own holidays. The ship was older but not run down and battered! The food was great everywhere! The activites were all fun and enjoyable! Of course you would have to participate to know that! We did!

Pay attention to the daily news and follow their easy to remove activity sheet. Even just being a people watcher is fun.. It really was impossible to not see how much talent was on board this ship.

We attended all the shows and found them all entertaining. Both comedians were funny each in their own way! I loved the fast come backs to the hecklers in the audience. The singers, dancers, and acrobates were fabulous!

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Loved it, would only change the bathroom and remove the sliding door next to the toilet. The shower was fantastic for size and temperature!

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

We arrived in a group and we visited New York and the enjoyed the Saint-Patrick Day Festivities. Top of the Mountain was easy and the pubs were full of great food and entertainment.

San Juan

Clean and easy to visit. We walked on our own but there was a free open aired bus available if you wanted. Visited the old san juan and saw many interesting things. We were there on a Saturday so many families were out side on the hill flying kites. We never felt pushed into anything. Loved the free drink at Senor Frogs

St. Maarten

Loved St. Maarten, the beaches were beautiful and very warm. My now all time favourite beach is Orient Beach. We also visited by bus the french side which was also very interesting. Because our group was from Quebec we also had a french guide who was very good. Lots of bargins here if you are interested

Tortola

Small with not alot of things to do, due to a lack of time on the island. I am sure once it is developed this will be an excellent Island to visit. Not many bargins available if they do offer you something take it, it will always be done with a nod of the head or something like that when you leave the shop. Kind of cute because they don't think others see them do it.
