My Dad is 89 and still doing well enough to want to get out and see the world. He discovered river cruises in the US and loved taking them with my mother. When she passed he asked if my sister and I might be interested in taking a cruise with him. After considering this heavy decision for about a nano second we agreed to go. Lucky us, that Dad wanted to use Viking for his next great adventure.
The Idi was a one year old, stunning ship. Rooms were open and light with every detail thought out for comfort with windows everywhere for views that beg to be savored. The rooms were beautifully appointed with plenty of storage and light. I didn't have to worry about 110 or 220 ...they had both. There were plenty of nooks and cozy seating areas to feel as if you had the ship to yourself, and the lounge was large enough to accommodate all 170 passengers during talks and evening entertainment.
The crew was top notch, they all worked tirelessly to make our trip memorable and enjoyable. With 50 crew members we were afforded a lot of personal attention. They worked as a team and they had a marvelous way of communication that made their care of each passenger appear seamless and effortless. We found ourselves talking about the incredible onboard entertainment and the wonderful crew as much as we relived the shore excursions. Everyday was something unique.
Quiet and beautiful rooms! Love the small balcony. The beds were comfortable and the bath was fantastic- Small and efficient, perfectly planned with glass shower doors and heated floor! (I want this at home!)
