Having only done a 3 night test cruise previously we were not sure what to expect but everyone kept assuring us that the Celebrity Solstice was one of the best ships around and we now certainly agree; so much so that we would say that we are now cruise converts and would happily go on the Solstice again.
The overseas passenger terminal at Sydney's Circular Quay is so easy to access; having flown into the domestic terminal we caught a train to the Quay and then walked around to the terminal. It is certainly a bit of a jumble trying to get 2800 people checked in but within an hour of dropping our luggage at the 'drop zone' we were on board with our welcome champagne ready to explore the ship.
We had a balcony cabin which at first I didn't think we would utilise the balcony, but it was lovely to have a quiet spot to sit with a drink and read or just to chill and watch the ocean. There are lots of quiet nooks to be had throughout the ship but having your own quiet, private spot was lovely. I did hear that some people ordered room service and had tea or breakfast on their balcony which sounded like a good idea. The cabin itself was roomy, plenty of hanging and drawer space with a lovely modern ensuite. The cabin doors are set back from the corridors so you are not stepping directly into the corridor which gives a little more privacy when entering and exiting your cabin.
Excellent cabin with plenty of hanging and drawer space - even plenty of coat hangers although I am pleased that we took a few extras. Loved that the TV swivelled so you could lay in bed and watch it. The bathroom was spacious and modern.
