We love to cruise and was told NCL was great. WRONG!!! We took the sky on march 30th April 3rd 2015. First we went for our older children's birthday was told there would be cake in their room, there wasn't we asked about it we were told we had to buy the cake, so we let it go. Then we purchased the soda packages for our 3 older children because it is usually the best option, after spending 90.00 (30.00 per child), we find we were also charge almost 16.00 gratuities on top of that for the cards ! We were told we would have a fridge we could use because were traveling with a baby, the fridge was locked and we were never able to gain access to it the whole 4 days. Granted if we needed milk we could go down 5 decks to the front desk and were able to get milk but who wants to do that a 3 am when there is a fridge 10 steps away! We had to get 2 rooms because there were 7 of us, we were told we would be on the same deck but might not be next to each other, no big deal me and the girls in 1 room and my husband and boys in the other, we were not only no were near each other but they were 2 decks above us !!! When we booked the cruise we were told they would accommodate my daughters wheat allergy, there was nothing wheat free, lucky for us we had her retested prior to the cruise and was told it came back negative so she was able to eat, but they were not aware of this because my husband forgot to call and cancel the wheat allergy information. My husband and I had some free time to ourselves so we went to the pool deck and sat at the bar for some drinks. The drinks were great and were only 7.00 each but then each time we got a drink and they swiped our room key they charged us 2.50 tip on each drink!!! so we each had 5 drinks at the same hour sitting, it was 25.00 in tips !!!! When we went tot he front desk to say between that and the 16.00 coke card tip it was insane! We were more or less told oh well, and when we said this insanity would change our decision to ever cruise NCL again he shrugged his shoulders and didn't care! I was appalled at the buffet, for a 4 day cruise the breakfast and lunch was exactly the same every day. They didn't even add different side dishes! They hamburgers were disgusting ! So we figured we would go to the pool side bbq for a change, except it was the same food as inside at the buffet!! The food and service inside the palace for dinner was amazing ! The room attendant was great! We will go back to our normal cruise lines for future cruises.
